        Hi everyone!!

Hope it is okay that I barge in here but I just wanted to thank you Mitzi for starting this thread and also thank all the contributors for their words of wisdom. I have been following this thread since it started and it has really been helpful to me.

Now, I am still a "newbie"--5 months tomorrow since I started induction --but this thread has helped me focus on something I really need--vigilance. My losses have slowed (only 4 1/2 pounds in the last month and I still have a long way to go) and I had really gotten a bit lax and not done fitday since the end of February.

I started back on there this week and identified the problem--while I am still good on percentages and up to about 40-45 net carbs per day (yesterday was 73 with 33 grams of fiber) my calories are astronomical (2200-2400 most days) so I have made some adjustments (cut out nuts, cutting back alcohol , cutting back cheese and dairy some) and have felt great the past 2 days since making these adjustments and calories down to about 1700. Really reduced my feeling hungry and I am hoping to increase my rate of losing a bit.

I really admire all of you on this thread and hope you don't mind me following along. Just wanted to say "thanks" and you girls ROCK!!!

          Good Evening, All

Elsy and Glenda ~ Woo hoo!! Nice loss on the scales, girls!

Looks like we are all still on plan.

Basics pay off! This has restored my focus and drive. The feelings of being in ketosis, which I made as a primary goal, well there is just nothing like ketosis. I mean, I was out of it, for 6 plus months, and even tho I exercised and got by, I did not feel this good. I rationalized it, I was now "normal" and with exercise could "control" weight. I proved that puppy WRONG. I proved my own theory DOES NOT WORK....
Oh to finally accept I can't have it all. The way food settles down and quiets it'self is WONDERFUL.
I think more than any thing else, I need to keep KETOSIS my focal point. Keeping those sticks turning pink. Keeping to the foods that diminish my appetite. Yep that's it for me.

            • Re: ~*~ Back To Basics ~*~

Hello Fellow Atkinseers! I am finally at a place where I can 'get back to basics.' I have been creating and taste-testing new low carb recipes for a long time, and although they are low carb, most are of the type that would not be eaten every day. I have gained quite a bit of weight back, just from eating too much legal food. I just got through a weekend where I prepared enough low carb food for an army and was only feeding two people. Now that that is over, I am going to cut back on the new recipes and get back to basics and get the weight back off. I read recently on Dana Carpendar's blog that she went from loose 12's to tight 16's when she was writing 500 low carb recipes!

I also have been so busy with raising vegetable plants, cooking and all my doctor's appointments at UVA, that I stopped all my 'formal' exercise. I have to do something about that. It's only about 10 more days before we can put the tender veggie plants in the ground, so I won't have to carry them out and back in the house every day.

I am having at least three trips to UVA per week, 80+ miles round trip, that wears me out, but I have to find a way to still have a life. The treatments take over an hour each time. Since there is no cure for RSD, this is not going to change, so it's back to working out a life around hospital visits. I've been doing it for over 10 years already.

For the first time in 2 1/2 years, I have stopped keeping my food journal. That really gives me license to eat more than I need and to eat late at night, which is bad for me. Today, I am back to logging every bite and every drink.

              Sunny!

Pamela and Sunny - GREAT to see you here! Yay!!

Hebrew National beef franks - OK, here's the deal. The reason that I like these, is that they taste good. I've never been a big hot dog eater - not even as a kid. But these taste better than your run of the mill hot dogs on the market. They DO have nitrites in them, and they do have a tiny amount of soy. I have some Oscar Mayer franks in the fridge right now, too, because believe it or not my DH and DS don't like the Hebrew National franks... they like the junkier ones. I'm looking at the label for the Oscar Mayers right now, it has dextrose and corn syryp in them, which the Hebrew Nationals don't. That alone, is reason enough for me to choose the Hebrew National. Please note, though - there is a lot of sodium in the Hebrew Nationals, just as there is in all of the brands. I probably won't eat them any more after I'm off Induction foods.

Oh, yeah - of course, the Hebrew Nationals cost more than the other brands. I've been getting mine at Walmart (they are on the top shelf at my store; have to get on my tip-toes to reach them).

Okay, I'm done eating for the day. I ate a lot today--had an empty spot I just couldn't get filled. I do have some grogeries that I bought to try out new recipes, so I will have to eat those up--food costs too much to let it go bad. I ate up the last of my cheese today, so I won't have that tempting me. I love cheese, but it doesn't love me.

I made stuffed pablano peppers and they were yummy. They were mostly stuffed with a taco-like mixture, with melted cheddar on top. I had some homemade guacamole on the side.

My spring lettuces, salad greens, baby spinach, Swiss chard, spring green onions and radishes are in, so I have really fresh salad ingredients!

Tomorrow will be even more back to the basics. I'm glad--even though the recipes were really good, I start to miss just plain Atkins food. I'll be cooking on the grill a lot more than when it was so cold.

                          Sunny!

I have one of those hunger holes today too. I ate a bit more than I need, but it wasn't a binge. Probably has something to do with the dairy I ate yesterday.

Oh and my face is all broken out in zits today. Dairy does that to me.

                                Good Evening, Everyone

Char ~ WELCOME! We are very happy to have you here. Isn't this board fantastic? As you can see from my stats, I am a second-timer to Atkins. The first time around, I didn't know about this board. This time, I have had it from the very beginning and think it is one of the most important keys to my success. I'm glad you found us.

                                Jess ~ KETOSIS... Ahhhh....

Elsy ~ getting skinny. Woot! Your menu sounds spot on, as usual. You're really getting the hang of this!

Heidi ~ it's great to hear you sounding so positive. It does my heart good! About dairy - like Joy, I just can't have a lot of dairy. If I want to treat myself once a month or so, I will indulge in cottage cheese sweetened with splenda and unsweetened cocoa, or have greek yogurt that way, but I can't have more than 1 container of either in the house. They are trigger foods for me.

Joy ~ I think you are more affected dairy than I am. Sucks, huh?

                                Sunny ~ I'm so glad you're here.

I've had a really busy day today. I can't believe it's so late already! ok, here's my facts:
