Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

How often are we supposed to check in here?

I drank a LOT of water today -- stopped keeping track after 64 oz. Anyway, it made me very full, and FitDay is saying that I only had 1360 calories. I am worried about having too little, now!

Did 20 minutes on the elliptical -- didn't really have time to do the 30 minutes so I crammed it in. I'll join the challenge.

Liv, I hoard cookbooks. I LOVE looking through and getting ideas for new recipes. Tonight I made oven-roasted cauliflower with olive oil and garlic. It was yummy, but I still have trouble digesting those crucifers!

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

yesterday was a great day, did my exercise, 25 minutes on the stationary bike totaled 9.1 miles and my abs workout. I ate well too. Cooked for the week. Went to bed at 10pm, got 7.5 hours of sleep. Need to get to bed early.....

Today, good day. No exercise, rest day. I'm feeling a bit warned down tonight. Had a few errands to run after work. I ate clean, had scrambled egg wrap for dinner, tasty. I need to get to bed early....

        December 2nd:
I did ok today, but it could have been better. I didn't get all of my water because we got stuck at Vestia (housing company) reactivating our living pass so we can start looking for a new appartment. I did walk around the city as I made my way to all of the destinations we had to go to. So I got some exercise. I trimmed my hair and then pulled my secret santa name for christmas...I got my boyfriend. I got 8/9 hours of sleep last night, would have been more but my boyfriend was bugging me bacause he was hungry :P.

Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge
          Checking in.

Still laid up with the flu, but definitely drinking my water goal and more, taking more of my supplements, exercise.....? Does getting up out of bed count?
And walking down the driveway to the street to get the mail from the curbside mailbox. (After dark so no one sees me in my jammies and overcoat!)
I am all alone, sons live on their own, hubby back out of town same day he took me to the DR. (Monday) Luckily, He had enough time to get some groceries to hold me over before his flight. He was only in town for Dad's wake and Funeral. Came in last Wednesday.

Right now I sleep, eat a little, go on the comp a bit, and go back to sleep!

Mission to lose - hope you feel better soon!

Dec 2nd: I worked my butt off on uni work and was totally exhausted so I didn't do the shred. I will be doing it tonight after kickboxing class.

Dec 3rd: Exercise as above. Food is all fine but am quite hungry. Will pop and buy supplements this pm.

Then my husband came in earlier than expected...I yelled "don't watch this"! I can't imagine doing something like this in a class environment in front of a whole bunch of people! It is fun even though it is embarrasing.
Ahhh sounds like fun. What kind of dance? I am not always comfortable having my DH watch me lift. I cannot imagine dancing

I suggested twice a week but every day is when I am coming around.
I have an excel sheet worked out and will tag everyones reports so that we can be accountable.

If I worried about calories I would eat more carbs. For me as soon as I eat more carbs my calories go up. Also when I want to eat less calories, I eat less carbs and it automatically goes down. Never fails. I am working on lowering snacks this months so I am snacking on no carb items - that does the trick

Good work. I always like going to bed after a good day. Nothing like a good consciousness to get that beauty sleep in.

So you did the shred - still liking it? I have stayed away from it as the cardio was aggravating my Achilles tendon issue. But I think another week recuperating I may try it again. Sometimes I like Jillian. Sometimes she annoys me and I mute her. That is my get back at her.

                  Challenge Summary

                  akader

My goal for this month is 125 lbs
I will not eat sugar free candy
                  take supplements regularly
                  DRINK WATER!!!
Exercise at least 5 times a week from the 3 days i already do

                  Reports in week one: None

                  alexa

Weight: I would like to stay under my current weight for the whole of the month. I think I'll probably lose a bit more before I go away and probably gain a little back but I don't want to be up to 196lbs again.

Diet: I will eat clean at home. When not at home I will make good choices. I will also take some of my own 'treat' type foods so I don't get tempted.

Water: I don't monitor this because I'd always drunk a lot of water. I'll remember to carry on with this when at others houses too and am out of my routine.

Supplements: I will buy some more - ran out and not replaced. Also vit c and echinsea for fending off colds.

Exercise: Up until 22nd I will be doing the shred (with 1 day off per week allowed if I fel I need it). After that I will do exercise when I have time but will go for a minimum of every other day over the time of being away. This will include pushups, abs, etc but also long walks. I will go to any kickboxing classes I have time and transport to.

Planning: I will plan alternative treats to take with me to relatives to make the sugary stuff less tempting.

Taking care of me: I will do some meditating, have warm baths after extreme stretching and spend more time on getting ready for Christmas parties.

My Reward: This is hard! I think if I manage all this that will be reward in itself! But I will get P90X in the new year to shape my workouts.
                  Reports in week one: Good
                  Reports in week Two:

                  1) Retrieve my copy of DANDR and reread it when I get home. Twice.
                  2) Make a plan for OWL. Not the individual foods, but a plan for how to follow it more closely without getting lazy.
                  3) Commit to major veggie consumption. I do fine, but I want my carbs to be continuing to come mostly from the veg no matter what rung I am on--I see this as a key to long term success for me.
                  4) Try to maintain my fitness level in December even with the traveling.

Weight: I would like to not gain any weight. Well, really I would like to get down to 160, but I've been stuck at 166 for the last month, so... :/

Diet: I'd like to figure out what is making me stuck.

Water: I'm going to remember to drink it! I'll shoot for 64 oz. a day -- I'll join the water challenge once I finish typing this.

Supplements: I will continue taking my supplements. Maybe I will even try going to a tanning salon around the corner -- I found one that has high levels of UVB to help with Vitamin D production.

Exercise: I want to do the elliptical every day until 12/11 and then 3x per week after that (is there an elliptical challenge?). If there is an ab challenge, I will join that, but otherwise, I'm going to shoot for 200 crunches/day. I'm going to do my inner thighs with some 10lb weights I have, and my triceps with the 20lb weights.

Motivation: I will not binge on my trip to Vegas! I'll be fine on Christmas. Will not binge at wedding on NYE at fancy hotel.

Planning: See above. I'll bring some macadamia nuts, coconut oil, stevia and buffalo jerky along with me so I am not hungry.

taking care of me: I am going to set aside some time to knit and sew.

Your reward If I shed 6lbs this month, I'm going to go buy an article of clothing for myself!!

                  gumby87

I haven't lost any weight the last month due to my not sticking to program and sneaking little cheats here and there,
so my first goal will be to restart induction today and give myself a good 14 day head start.

Diet: Focus on the goal and not give in to those high carb foods
Water: close to a gallon a day
Supplements: take my multi V and CLA
Exercise: 1 hr of cardio (30 min running and 30 elliptical or stairmaster)30 Puch-ups and not the girl ones,80 full sit ups since that is how they do them in basic training.
My Reward: I want to purchase a really nice outfit to ring in the new year and also get a much needed haircut!!

Weight: I need to use the scale - I do not weigh myself weekly and I need to maintain. I will report weight tomorrow

Sliding - slip sliding away. I do this - especially in the winter - I do not directly cheat but I eat too many of these and too many of those and it the end I overeat carbs - bad carbs. So I am going to be good in this area

Exercise - I notice I have started to find excuses to skip my sessions. I decided to sign up for a new challenge to motivate myself. And I will do regular exercise

Taking care of myself - I feel bad when I do too much computers or tv and I do not do my chores - I would feel better if I just took a few minutes more everyday to do some pick up and chores. I know I like it when I do. I will bring some outer calm in my environment and help my inner calm in this so stressful month.

Cooking - I will try a new recipe this month - something different but legal. I have to do some research on this one

Vitamins - it is so dark - I feel it having an impact - I am going to do some Bs and Ds this month. I also thought I would try some Applecider vinegar this month to see what it does. I keep making bone broths to use for mineral supplements

Reward - If I can really do good I think I would like to buy myself something cute - I'll post a picture

                    Living pass? That sounds serious.
There is a housing shortage here so you basically have to pay to "stand in line" The living pass is basically your proof you have paid...At this moment we have a 2-3 year waiting line. Perfect timing I would say.

So what are you planning on getting your bf?
I am thinking about getting him some art supplies. He is a fantastic drawer and I know if he had the right utensils he could make some amazing things...So I was thinking about getting some sketching paper, coal pencils, erasers...things like that, and if I have enough money left over then maybe getting him a legit version of "Elder Scrolls - Oblivion". We will see.

I'm happy to see everone is doing so good!

                      Love your signature.

I am doing good so far today. But I am feeling abit b*tchy - probably hormones again. I did do cleaning and have worked on my surrounding and my snacks have been very non carby - so far so good.

Hello ladies and not sure if there's a gentleman in this fantastic group....

When it rain it pours.... car brakes down, cost to fix is worth more then the car itself. Thankfully my mother has a car she's selling to me, it's a oldie but goodie. I need to get my act together and start saving..... stress at work too....

None of the above has weaned me off of this WOL... Worked out on the stationary bike, 20 minutes, did my abs workout. Later today, I'll get on the Wii Fit. I need a stress release after work.

Took my supplements, I haven't picked up flax seed or fish oil, need to that today. Water, totally on it. It's always easier at work to drink the ounces that I pledged too.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous December 3rd.

Liv: thank you for the message. I hope you're starting to feel a bit happier.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Hi everyone -- checking in for yesterday (12-2). I have a miserable cold which is trying to get the better of me.....I walked 2 miles on the treadmill again yesterday. I stay between 3 and 3-1/2 miles per hour and an incline of 3 to 6 so I am pushing myself somewhat since this is a new piece of equipment.

My food is on track and, of course, my water is always good..., I've also been taking my prescriptions and supplements , I have spent some "alone" time both days, which is a real rarity for me!

I haven't got up to doing a video yet, it's hard enough walking with a runny nose & sneezing.... I won't weigh myself until Monday so I have no idea how I'm doing (or if I'm loosing) but I'm trying to do what I need to in order to loose.

Hope eveyone has a great Thursday AND a better Friday!
                          Carole

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Dec 3 - 2 miles on treadmill - mostly 3-1/2 mpg and 4% to 8% incline today. I did 30 seconds of running twice during the walk -- trying to slowly incorporate running into my time.

When I finished with my walk I did some isometrics for upper body strength.

My food is pretty good today (a little low on carbs because I didn't have a real breakfast) but not bad.

                                Alone time again today (sleeping..lol)

Hoping for less weight on the scale on Monday! (Need to do measurements again also)

Have a great Friday and weekend.
