  • Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Hi a quick check-in. These past few days have been busy with all the Christmas shopping. I'm on track Just having issues with getting my water in... I need to work on that. I'm off for the next two weeks and that's when the true will power kicks in. It's easy to be on track at work. I'm looking forward to actually getting fresh air when I workout. Taking my son with me too... He enjoys a good walk. I'm starting to notice my clothing is starting to hang loose. I need to buy a few pair of pants that don't look so baggy on me. LOL I'm on track with my supplements, I finally added Flax seed oil. I haven't weighed myself in over three weeks, I'll take the plunge and weigh in on January 1st.

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile! I've been so busy that some days I don't even get near the computer.

I've lost 2 1/2 lbs and am doing great on the diet.
I exercised 5 days last week.
I only exercised to my video once though because all the twisting bothers my knee.
I'm drinking more water but still too much tea. I'm working on that!
I still forget my vitamins but not as often as before this challenge.
Stress is still a problem but at least it's not affecting my eating on plan.

I will try to report more often from now on. Thanks for the nudge, liv!

Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

Supplements: Be more regular about taking my supplements besides the daily vitamin. Doing good with getting most of them in.

Weight: Try to lose at least .5# each week I am a little disappointed in this. I have been back on eating right for 2 weeks now after the flu. It took a week to lose the 4 or 5 # I gained. Broke even last Monday. But today I was still the same. I am feeling a little frustrated, I feel like I lost a month that I could have made a little better progress.
I was so proud of myself the week of Thanksgiving despite the sadness of the week.
Tuesday, the day we spent at the hospital the day my Dad died and taking my Mom out later for some food, (I was gone from home from 6 am till 12 midnight).
Wed- mammogram "re-do" and ultrasound in the am, picking up DH at the airport, out to dinner with DH and 2 sons.
              Thursday-Thanksgiving with family.
Friday, Sat-wake and funeral and funeral luncheon.
Sunday- DH and 2 sons spent day with Mom, took her out to eat at North side of Chicago and took her to Michigan ave Christmas lights and downtown scenic drive. ALL OF THOSE DAYS I STAYED ON TRACK. And every one of those days I could have found 100 excuses to go off plan due to stress and difficulty of convenience to eat the right food. But I didn't, I stayed on plan except for no exercise. Then BAM! Monday I get sick with the flu and I am sick and totally worn out for 2 WEEKS!!!

Water: Continue my 96 ounces per day. Water is never a problem for me

Exercise: Get out to the club more often, not just exercising at home. Getting to the club more often, and also increasing my at home exercise.

Time for a proper check in

                December 21th:

Weight: TOM, so no scale for a while.
Diet: Crampy so I am not really wanting to eat.
Water: Still drinking . I've had well over 64oz today (no public trans port because the whole ground is frozen over, about 2in thick, solots of walking and drinking)
Supplements: I have 4 servings of flaxbread today (2 sandwiches). I made it alittle different this time. I made it with a little whole gran flour. I was getting disgusted by the taste and this helped alot.
Exercise: The snow has turned to ice (but still looks like snow) so I have been working hard trying to keep my balance. I really feel it in my thighs and buns. I have also learned that army boots work better then uggs when it comes to ice.
Planning: I need to buy the food for Christmas still
Taking care of me: I've been taking it easy and drinking lots. Sleep is getting better. Sleeping longer and better then I have lately.
Other: Last friday my cat had his echo. They found a stone about 0.5in in diameter. Today we took him in to have it removed. I was alot calmer then I thought I would be. He is home and recovering. He will need to be put on a special food to stop the stones from coming back. He also will ne back on antibiotics and pain killers until he is better. He has problems swallowing the antibiotics though.

That weather sounds wicked. You should join us here, some of are sharing stories when we have extreme or just plain nasty weather...

I'm glad you cat is better. They are so sad when they are sick. We had two "kitties" that were sisters since our sons were little...they were with us a long time. My son took one with him when he moved out. After she left us, she was old, my son decided to get another. He bought a Bengal cat. He drove 10 hours last Christmas eve to buy her, (terrible weather, too.) He stayed over night at a hotel and drove back early Christmas morning. Weather was better and trip was shorter.
Kitty is 1 yr old now and so cute and crazy!

Weight: No scales until i see the doctor early next yr BUT I was told by a random barista Id lost my bum....which was a nice affirmation

Diet: its been really easy....planning a very simple Christmas lunch thats basically cold chicken and ham and salads and an atkins cheesecake...its HOT in Australia for Xmas

Water: Doing the water challenge so between 65-70oz a day

Supplements: Um Im actually feeling really good so Im not taking any right now...Im keeping a close eye on myself and if I dont feel 100% I shall start again

Exercise: Unlike most of you I have no snow to battle we have the hottest days....so early morning walks and early evening walks with the puppy...was chatting to a personal trainer type friend who gave me some ideas to start on my upper body...

Planning: I need to buy the food for Christmas still x 100

Taking care of me: I ditched ALL my old knockers and bought nice silky ones that fit...makes a difference your knickers not falling down!

Other: Ive been to a few Christmas functions but because of the heat here more people are having bbqs and salad which suits me fine...I brought the desert to the last one which was Atkins approved and no one noticed...I love that

I spent all day shopping! I was determined to get it done today. Finished Christmas shopping, then went grocery shopping and spent more than I have ever spent at the grocery store before. That was scary. But its done. I am exhausted. I forgot to eat lunch. Did drink my water and take my vitamins.

I'm very shamefaced to say - I have not kept my cool. I am currently very uncool and the food is BAD.

Tbh I doubt I will muster the willpower to be strict before Christmas because we will be with relatives from now. But I have joined the 6WEC and will be putting those days in. The food will surely follow.

Well done to you all still on track and have a great Christmas everyone.

I would not recommend that. There are often many different foods you may want to try at a rung. Like on dairy there are yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, etc. But if you are at a place where you do not have lots to lose, don't let that worry you. Just start and do what you can. You can still climb as you maintain.

I got my turkey and I am set. Grocery shopping is so stressful right now as everyone is scrambling.

I am hoping for a good day I guess I have to work for it too.
