Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

What a bunch of nice inspiration you all are. It is quiet at ADBB in December. Partly people are very busy of course but it is not a bit "diet" month So it is great to see that we can tough it out.

      December 9th:
Feeling better today but not 100%. I have been overly thirsty today and have drank close to 3 liters. Me and my boyfriend walked around the town today looking for a birthday present for his sister. My cat had his xray, the vet showed us and it looked like a mass on the bladder to me. She called it an un-even wall. He now has to go to a specialist to get an echo. She didn't give us much more info, because of this I have a ton of things going through my head to where I can't sleep. I did finally get to sleep yesterday with the help of some ibuprofen even though my doctor tells me not to take it for stomach pains...I also took a nap today while waiting for the vet to call. For the rest I have done ok. Got my fiber in, drank my water, exercised (walking), No slippage in food, avoided the scale like it was the plague, spent time with boyfriend, failed at sleeping

      Happy humpday all.

Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

          Hi all.

I did ok today. I am not weighing in yet (denial? I don't know).
We had a snow storm and I was outside in the cold a lot shoveling and dealing with my car off the road (thanks to my son).
My only slip was maybe drinking too much coffee today. I ate my veggies and drank my water.
My "me" time today is watching Top Chef with my son.

I love top chef. My whole family is glued to it. What season are you watching? I watch in here on the Canadian food network and we are a little bit behind.

Great that you are reporting in. 2 lbs is good. You are already so thing that that is huge. I some days wish I could lose just a little bit more but I am not willing to do what it takes and I am pretty sure I could not keep it off. Well there is age for you. But I love where I am.

Hope things work out with your cat.
Is it going fine trying to get in all the fiber you need to eat?

I did not do well with my water yesterday. I have a glass going today. I did stay out of teh peanut jar. That is big for me.
So far I had two soft boiled eggs. May do a bit of leftover chili for lunch and have some steaks planned for supper. If I can stick to this I will be good. And I am heading to the track to run for a bit. It is still super cold here.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!!

                  Checking in today...

I hope everyone is well. Cold season has finally hit here, nice change.

I've been on plan these past two days.... Today, is my office Christmas luncheon, thankfully I went to the restaurant and saw what the menu was going to be like. There are Atkin friendly foods... well, not sure if the rotisserie chicken will be injected with sugar.... I'll need to ask. If it is, I have a back up plan, the restaurant has a great salad bar that I can choose from.... Either way, it'll be a successful day. I worked out this morning, did my abs and added five more....

My fiancee called me this morning, he's following this WOL too. Why did he tell me he at bread ate McDonalds for breakfast? He couldn't eat the inside of the sausage mcmuffin with out throwing out the bread? Of course I had a few loving kinds words for him! LOL

                    Hi Liv~
Once I build up my endurance, I LOVE my Nordic Track Skier (right now I'm pooped in 10 minutes). It's definitely old school and has fallen out of fashion, but when I use it regularly, the results are amazing, affecting all parts from the neck down. But mainly, no stress on my joints (like running), and all the resistance is adjustable. Of course the best part is that since it is old school, you can get them at thrift stores. I've had mine for many years as a clothes rack but bought a second one to keep out in my garage for the summer. It was missing a couple of bolts so they sold it for $5 !!! ~I never have tried the real thing though...

It is going ok, some days are better then others. I have a supplement that I can take up to 3 times a day if needed, each tbsp has 5,8g fiber and 2,7 net carbs. I tend to eat alot of veggies so I usually only take the supplement once, sometimes twice. But of course my body is using more of what I eat so I don't "go" as much. I keep an eye on how my gut is feeling and if it is telling me it is full then I make sure I get enough fiber ASAP. I have linsseed meal in my cabniet if needed and even bran flakes with extra fiber as a last resort.

On average I am getting 25g a day, which is working pretty well. On days it just isn't feeling right I will have something like 35g.

                        • Re: Keeping our Cool: December Diet Challenge

I had this whole story typed out and I accidently erased it! I suck!...Anyway,

                          December 10th:
Weight: Mid week weigh in: I am up to 159.9...but I feel bloated so I expected it. I think all of this ickyness I have been feeling has clogged me a bit and has caused me to bloat and swell. I can feel it in my stomach, hips and legs...
Diet: I have gone over on my carbs in search for more fiber to help clear this clogging. I have tried to keep my calories down so the damage minimal.
Water: 64oz so far, hoping to get 64 more to help reduce the bloating and swelling. I have a 500ml cup so about 4 more of those to meet that goal...1 cup an hour or so I hope.
Supplements: I have 25g of fiber in at the moment but I am upping it to 40g today to help clear me out. I have already had my 3 servings of fiber supplement and I have no high fiber veggies left so I am going to hit the linsseed and possible the bran flakes with extra fiber.
Exercise: None! I have been exhausted all day today and slept through most of it. I will try to get some push up in before bed, but i am not going to push my self. I think it is safe to say I have a bug.
Planning: One of our close family friends is having a difficult time right now so I have been cooking dinner (and sometimes breakfast) for him just to insure he has atleast 1 good meal in him. This takes a bit of planning to make food that was bought for 2 but already streched for 3 be pulled to feed 4. Hints why I have no more high fiber veggies. Besides that we have Christmas all planned out. My stepfather wants to make a turkey (roll) with stuffing (on the side). I was asked to supply the veggies so I am thinking about green beans and bacon, cranberry sauce (home made), mash, and possibly a crustless pumpkin pie (home made) with whipped cream and ice cream for them. I cannot wait. New years I am spending with my boyfriend and a bottle of wine or champange, nothing fancy.
Taking care of me: Like I mentioned earlier I have been sleeping all day, still echausted too. Did not spend alot of time with boyfriend today...he too was exhausted and went to bed shortly after he got home. I hope he is not getting sick.
Other: Dozey (my cat) has his echo sceduled for friday the 18th at 12 noon. They said it will only take 15 minutes...they have never meet my cat. He hates everything in a white coat right now and will fight to the death, expecially if I am no where in sight. He will probably need to be sedated again...My boyfriend has an appointment at 1 that day so I hope it goes smoothly.

I think I will start doing my updates in this style, less chance of me babbling and getting side tracked.

Weekends almost here! Hang in there everyone.

Did 2 miles on the treadmill this morning -- 3.5 mph was the slowest I went -- tried to stay at 3.8 mph for the better part of the walk. My incline was 4% the first mile and 8% the 2nd mile.....took another 2 minutes off my time.....that feels good. I'm watching this years Biggest Loser while I'm on the treadmill -- I have the entire season taped, so I watch 1 episode each time I walk....makes the time go past faster. (Was glad Danny won this year!!!)

Water has been good - always is.

Food has been good most of the week -- I could have been better a couple days but nothing to beat myself up over.

I took a nap this afternoon as my "me" time.....it's cold and my bones were achy so after I walked and had lunch I decided to go watch TV in bed (aka - take a nap). I felt so much better when I woke up!

I need to get going with a video - that was part of my pledge for this challenge. I'll figure out a good one to do and start next week.

                            Hope everyone is doing well!!

Loving-How did it go? I have my first such challenge on Monday. There are so much sugar being served in December - and there will be goodies from the old country. Those are the hardest to resist. I may have to bring a couple of pieces of dark chocolate. May get me through it

Ohbehave - that is a lot of fiber for a low carber. Good job on it. Knowing me I probably would try to get it all through peanut butter

Kntry - 5 bucks wow - well I am suprised that my gym does not have one. It seems to be into old equipment. I don't mind. It is run by the city and cheaper than private places and nearby.

Carole - I was hoping for Danny too at the end. But I did not watch all episodes. You're loving the threadmill?

barrnone - sounds like you are on schedule

I think I am getting a bit better now. The major stress part of work is over. And yesterday I manage to get running. Some pants are feeling tighter these day. I am a bit in trouble with my weight Combination of skipping exercise and small slips - nothing really illegal - just too much high rung carbs I think. I don't like it but I have to be honest about it. It is happening
