Definitely HG. I've actually been pretty consistent all along. About 7-10 pounds per month. 9 months -- 72 pounds. I know that's a good rate to be losing at... but still!

Actually, AA timing is great b/c it will keep me from obessing as I near onederland. AND, as you said, hopefully by the time we weigh, we'll be squarely in the 190s and won't have to fret about going back up 2 ounces to take us into the 2s again.

And, well, of course I should add that AA will GET us to onederland, right, b/c we'll be so disciplined. Why'd ya have to go and make it 6 weeks anyway? Wasn't 1 month enough? Sheesh.

I swear, HG, if I get to mid-June and I'm not there, I'm gonna come to Canada and personally beat you with wet, fishy-smelling shiritake noodles. (Because of course it will be your fault for not letting me weigh, and not something I did!)

Speaking of coming to Canada, I haven't had reason to come up there for work, but we do have some operations there, so anything's possible. I'll certainly touch base with you if I do. And same goes for you, if you ever wander down (wayyyy down) my way...

i so need a vaction..... doesn't look good this year with the expenses surrounding house changes and a single income to tie everything up... but perhaps Atlanta is in my future at some point. But we won't be going for a run... I ain't there yet girlie. And if you think you are slow you haven't seen anything yet! LOL

Oh and come on! I should beat myself up for the 6 weeks of a challenge when it was your before and 6 weeks after pictures that inspired this whole thing to begin with? Id' like to see you find shiritake noodles up here anyways to beat me with! LOL Then I'd know where to shop!

And it will be nice to not obsess over a pound here or there to get us back into the 2's. Since weightloss is so rollercoastery and you can never tell if your scale is on crack or what.... it irks me when I know I am following plan like a drill seargent and I still gain 3 lbs. GRRRRRRRRR

I am also trying to get realy skinny for my SIL's upcomming wedding. it will be so nice to be thinner than her! Ahem... yes my catty side is coming out! Ahe asked me the other day what size my wedding dress was. It is a 16, and she said, *Oh I thought I remember you being bigger than that...* I asked her what size her dress is and she said she hasn't found the right dress yet. Her mom told me she bought it last week so i know she is fibbing, but come on... it is because she doesn't want to admit that it is bigger than mine. She just has such a snarky tone at times. I have no clue whatsoever as to her asking me to be in her wedding party. DH said yet that of course we would do it, but part of me just wants to say no. Then again, I love getting all fancified and buying a gorgeous black cocktail dress in a smaller size will be fun so scratch that. I'll stand with them. Besides I like her fiance. No idea what he is thinkin, but it is his choice! LOL

Oh BTW at New years just before startine Atkins, she weighed easily 50 lbs more than I did. She told her mom she lost 15 lbs since new years and that she hopes to lose another 25 before the wedding. Her mom told her I lost almost 60 since new years and told her maybe she should try my diet to which she said *oh they are just on some unhealthy thing that won't last. She'll be fat again before the wedding mom. We might as well put off getting bridesmaid dresses until then* Now you see why i distain her? As if the mountain of other things she has said isn't bad enough....

OMG, can't believe she'd say something like, "thought you were bigger than that." How rude!!

You have plenty of time before you make it down here (or me up there). Get your booty out there running, girlie.

Darn, MY six-week photos are to blame? Guess I can't hold you accountable them. Shoot! But, I'd bring my own shiritake noodles if I had to...

You know what I've noticed? People who are having their own weight struggles either say something ugly like that, or more often, don't say ANYTHING at all. At work, there is a very nice woman who I've noticed has gained a lot of weight over the past few months (I think she yo-yos a lot). Though EVERYONE else I work closely with has commented on my losses, she hasn't. Not that I'm expecting everyone to shower compliments on me (well, okay, that WOULD be okay... ), but it just sorta stands out. And, it makes me feel bad for her, b/c I'm sure she's embarassed that she's gained.

I agree, reflexive biting is a nasty thing, but when someone is unhappy with their situation and really clueless as to how to go about chaniging it they can feel defensive and in return often be mean. I know I struggled with this when DH lost the firt time he did atkins. I wasn't mean to him, but I wasn't supportive either. It is so hard watching people lose and you can't seem to get out of your rut, yah know?

I have come to expect rude from this girl though. She has admitted to resenting the fact that I *took* her big brother away from her. (yes I am rolling my eyes as I type this) and has also said she has on occasions said things just to hurt me. Well duh! Like didn't quite pick up on that one!

I have a friend who just had a baby about 6 months ago. She gained a huge amount of weight and it is mostly on her rear end. She also makes no comment about my weight loss. Although 58+ lbs is a substancial loss, she makes no comment or recognition of the changes in me. It is kind of dishartening when it is supposed to be a good friend too. Makes you wonder....

Well, at least you like your SIL's fiance. Maybe he will make her easier to be around in the future. Or, maybe you should warn him she's a witch?

Try not to take it personally about your friend... I know weight is such an emotional thing. It's funny -- it's almost like they don't bring it up b/c they don't want to bring attention to their OWN weight. As if if they don't mention it, you won't notice. Also, I think there's some embarassment in acknowledging you've done what it takes to lose, but they haven't/won't.

That is so true. My MIL asked me how much I weigh on the weekend to which I gave her a resoundind response that I will never share that information with her. The only people IRL who know how much I weigh are my DH and my dr! And it is going to stay that way. I have no problem telling them how much I have lost, but real scale numbers are still scary to me! LOL However, every time she is around she talks about how fat she is. She is a bit overweight, but I wouldn't call her fat. It is just funny how much people seem to overcompensate either way. They either talk of nothing else or don't acknowledge it at all.

Wel, this chickie has to babysit tomorrow ALL DAY LONG, so i am going to hit the hay now. G'nite Adena! Sleep well friend, and dream of flat tummies will yah?

ITS THE FRIDAY DANCE OF JOY!!!!

                    Happy friday all!
So far so good, almost one week down! YAY. I can't wait to see everyone's inches losses on Sunday!
I am going to get in an extra workout at home tomorrow since I didn't get one Monday, but other than that I have 4 days of good workouts in.
I'll tell you, there is nothing more effective for me toning up my legs than those hills on the treadmill. I was shaving this morning and they looked a little leaner! I was like wow!
So I will be sticking with that through this whole challenge, and probably upping the intensity each week to keep my body guessing and maximize the speed at which this fat leaves for good

I forgot my V today, but will take it when I get home.

Hey does anyone know a good source of potassium that I can eat on induction?

Yay for leaner legs, Kim. That's great. Sorry -- don't know the answer to your potassium question, but hopefully someone does? A quick internet search might reveal some answers.

Just making note that I've run 7 miles this week toward my goal of 10. I know I'll run at least 3 more on Saturday (am doing a 5k run), and probably and additional 2 with Jess.

                      Happy Friday everyone!

Thank you Adena! I just searched and most are not legal but I found an article that said spinach and tomatoe is also rich in potassium, and I eat spinach every day and love tomatoe, sooooo I should be all set
I have a horrible fear of potassium deficiency because of what happend to that girl Terry, that was brain dead after a postassium defficiency from dieting and they were fighting over removing her feeding tube. Anyone remember that huge story? I can't remember her last name for the life of me, but since then have beed so afraid when doing atckins.
Anyhoo YAY for you on your miles this week! I still need to start trying to run, I just don't know how to start

I remember that story, Kim -- didn't know that was how she got in that state, though. But, I'm sure that's rare... you have a better chance of getting struck my lightning. So, just keep eating your spinach and tomatoes, and you'll be fine!

How to start running? Small. Walk for 5 minutes, run for 30 seconds or 1 minute, then walk again. Repeat. At first, I could barely run for a minute. Then, I started running intervals based on distance rather than time (run a quarter, walk a half, repeat), and it seemed to take forever before I could run 1/4 of a mile. But, it DOES come to you -- slowly but surely.

Here's a list og high potassium foods I found from http://nhnh.essortment.com/potassiumfoodh_rkyn.htm

HIGH potassium (more than 225 milligrams per 1/2 c. serving)

These foods would be beneficial to athletes or to others who incur heavy fluid loss. Patients on potassium-restricted diets should avoid them, or eat them sparingly, as advised by their nutritionist

All meats, poultry and fish are high in potassium.

Apricots (fresh more so than canned)

                              Avocado

                              Banana

                              Cantaloupe

                              Honeydew

                              Kiwi

                              Lima beans

                              Milk

                              Oranges and orange juice

Potatoes (can be reduced to moderate by soaking peeled, sliced potatoes overnight before cooking)

                              Prunes

                              Spinach

                              Tomatoes

                              Vegetable juice

                              Winter squash
                              Cynthia
                              Female, 5'5", 36

Zencyn, thanks! I saw a similar list online. Hey, if meats are high in potassium, why are we advised to take a supplement if we are eating so much meat??
