  • Re: JUNE - CHORES & EXERCISE Double Whammy Challenge

Ok guys and gals... got a favour to ask some willing Atkineer:

As I said before the challenge started this month, I'll be away for ten to fourteen days from Wednesday. Going to a pretty remote Scottish island where I don't think there'll be much chance of getting online. With only 100 inhabitants and one shop, I'm not sanguine about chances of finding an internet caffè!

Could someone (sens offered originally, but then she didn't join up in the end)... could some kind person please keep an eye on things here (I should be back around the 25th) and just make a note of the post number if there happen to be any new people joining. That way I can go straght there and update my list pretty quickly on return, and put down all the target chores, without having to comb all those days postings. I'll certainly look with interest, to see what you've all been up to, but I might be speed reading so miss someone saying they want to join and what they intend doing.

Thanks in advance to whoever volunteers to be my "guardian angel".

Bio! You're a peach! Thanks so much!

You're right... I bet Scotland will be very parky (english slang for chilly) this time of year, but I don't mind weather. I'll just be pleased to get away for a break.

Truth be told, it was my brother and my husband who hatched this plan, 'cos they wanted to go fishing (particularly hub)! I got roped in too. Actually, we never go away at this time of year due to our work, and typically, the one year we decide to, we have every problem under the sun just before leaving! Oh well, it means it'll be all the more relaxing to leave the probs behind... and hopefully not too irresponsible of us! Fingers crossed that we've delegated right.

Looking forward to those blowy clifftop walks, but will miss you guys!

OK, so I still haven't gotten to the closets, but I did walk 3.2mi this morning! YAY ME! I just got back. I had a walking partner (besides my 2.5 yo) and it made it go by sooo much faster....I actually ENJOYED it! LOL!!!!

Hi everyone. congrats on the walk Miabella. Great name btw!

Well, I'm finally getting my painting of the halls/stairs and landing done. Prep work started and will get moving on same tomorrow. I bought paint today at lunch time and also got some lovely frames for family photographs to be hung. I'm excited. Should be finished by tomorrow evening.

I worked on the play area today. I asked DH if we had any landscaping fabric left and he said yes - I neglected to ask him HOW much we had left and it wasn't nearly enough! But I also bagged up all the debris he left when he trimmed a tree and tilled the area last week. I also started edging the play area with these big rocks that were around our house when we moved in.

good use for the rocks cynthia! i like 'em here and there but not for the enire house.

i actually got done with my part of the basement cleanup last week but jack had a mess to take to the dumpster this morning so i couldn't call it done till today. i have my sons stuff piled in a certain area and there's nothing i can do with that till he gets his own place but this is as good as it can be till that day comes.
beford and after of the same area. in the after pic, the stuff to the right is all christmas and the other part is stuff i won't be unpacking like extra curtains
and old stuff i can't seem to part with yet.

this is a shot under the steps

and sorry, the batteries are dead in the camera so i can't get a pic of the rest. what i did was group all the coolers in an area, all the totes w/lids are stacked and the totes without lids are stacked inside of each other. the boxes are broken down and resting off the floor and stacked, all my canning jars have been reboxed and stacked in their area.

and to think it took this double whammy challenge to get it started.
that's cool cause it took the challenge to make me get my things done too.

i've been really pleased at how much we've all accomplished and the muscles we've worked has to be a great plus!

Love the pics of the basement, Jimmie - great work!

I lined some more of the playarea with more of those blasted rocks - not only are they heavy, they've been up against the house for who knows how long and they are all muddy and dank on the bottom - ugh. And after I get most of the area outlined in the rocks DH tells me he thinks it would look better in a semi-cirlce! Yikes!

Jimmie your basement looks nice and tidy. I have a huge box with my xmas tree too ( I'm guessing thats your tree) just like yours. I have so much xmas stuff I can't let loose of.

Well guys I started the trimming of my bushes on one of the hottest days yet. It got up to 95 today. I was sweating something fierce. It wore me out totally. I also transplanted several plants from one area to another. I put up a trellis for one of my plants that needed one as it was crawling across the yard. It's supposed to draw hummingbirds, not sure of the name of it. It never has blossomed. I will take a picture tomorrow to show ya all my before and afters.

Sally, hope you enjoy your vacation. You all are working so hard and it doesn't sound like any of it is easy!
