apple, there's still some days. you still have time!

i'm so disappointed that i can't get anything doen with the porch. i simply don't think that putting 5 potted plants out there is going to earn me anything. the bonus project isn't going to get done either i don't think. i can't do it by myself. i have to look back and see how i worded my commitment on that one. i'll give the porch one last ditch effort on friday and saturday.

i did however clean out the registers. believe me, you don't want to know how nasty bad they were.

    1. paint the back steps done
    2. clean up the basement done
    3. kill the weeds in the drive done
    4. trim the bushes at the front window done
    5. remove the iron stake in the back yard. done
    6. add rocks to the border on the very small hasta bed out back done
    7. add some bushes and/or flowers to the front porch area. almost
    8. trim the lower branches off the trees that are brushing up against the kitchen window done
and if i have the strength (this will purely be a bonus)
    9. i want the rusted clothesline pole (there's only 1) removed from the yard.

Yeah! I'm done with my chores! I got my baby brother over today to help with some mulch. I shouldn't have done so much on my bad foot, but it feels good to have the playarea done. The only thing left to do is get some new sand for the sandbox, but I'm calling it done. We got done just in time for the rain so I hope it still looks as good tomorrow when I go take pics

AND... our deck around the pool is almost done!!!! Yippee! Our backyard is going to be sooo nice when it's all done.

Here are my before and after of the play area in my backyard. I wish I had pics of it before we tore down the old shed but I didn't think to take any. I may get a kiddie pool to put there as well and I don't have all their little toys out there yet.

Hi everyone. Sounds as if everyone is finishing up their projects.

Cynthia, you really did a wonderful job on the play area! It looks great! It doesn't look easy that's for sure! Cynthia, what happened to your foot?

Sally, glad you're back with us, and Apple is back from vacation too.

Biogeek, are you still hard at it?

I'm almost finished with my last project, painting the downstairs entrance to my basement room. I'm really sick of painting. I'll post some pics soon.

Cynthia, that play area looks fantastic!!!!! Those rocks are huge! Glad you didn't have to move them again...they look good just the way they are! Lucky kids!!! By the way, how many bags of mulch did you go through? 50?

Mickkey, I'm still at it although I had to amend some of my chores due to the wet weather. I still have one more area to weed and mulch and then I'm done with my list. Of course, there's reweeding the areas that were weeded before....a neverending process!

Mickkey - The doc thinks I have plantar faciitis (sp?) - A few months ago we thought it was something like tendonitis, but it got better and didn't bother me as long as I kept up with my stretches. I over did it last week and pulled my foot wrong and it's been in a lot of pain. Sometimes it's throbbing and sometimes it's sharp stabbing pains. I've been resting it a lot and my chiro gave me a tens unit to use at home and they've been doing ultrasound on it. It feels pretty good today considering I was on my feet all day yesterday.

Bio - I didn't bother with bags! I borrowed my dad's pick-up and it took 3 cubic yards to do the play area. 1.5 pickup loads. It was much cheaper this way. We got the mulch from the dump and it was only $12 a cubic yard.

Cynthia....what a cool place to play! Your kids are so lucky to have you as their mom. I'd love to play there.

Well, folks, I don't know how much I'll be able to get done at all this week. We have a death in the family and I'll be pulled between my home and the family home through out the rest of the week.

However, I will be staying close to my routine and try to stay as focused as possible to getting something done on my list of things to do for the week. It'll be a good distraction for me and my girls, as well as the family coming over to stay with us while they process of grieving goes. I'm not sure if I'll get to the painting of the pantry, but I'm certain I'll be working on the lightbulbs....especially if folks will be coming to my place to stay, it would be nice if they could see where they're going and not having spirder webs to look up to.

Cheers to all who are doing great and completing their chores! I think I'm looking forward to next month's challenge...if there will be one

i am not sure of this and sal can confirm or deny but i think the challenge was originally set to be a twice a year thing. one in the spring, one in the fall. we all got so much accomplished that sal did an extra month us this time around.

                        ...... i think.

i've got a rose bush that needs to get planted today and then i'll figure some kind of way to hang my flag on the front porch. when that's done, i'll be done with the month. the clothesline pole is cemented so that will be a project for jackman, not me.

Cynthia, my boss just got a cortisone shot in her foot for plantar faciitis just yesterday. I'll let you know if it works for her. From what she's said and from you, it sounds like a very painful condition!!! Hang in there! Look at all the things you've accomplished!! I'm very proud of you (and for finding cheap mulch!).

Apple, I'm sorry for your loss. You've got family to think of right now...the pantry can wait.

i've been out digging in the dirt. i have to wait for jack to figure out how to hang our flag (i want it hanging flat against the house). i'm calling my porch project done. here's some before and after, aka: drab to a little bit of life.

there's 3 plants sitting between the chairs, you can't see them very good, sorry. that's a wind chime in the forground and a rose bush on the left, just off the porch.

a couple of buckets of flowers are at the corner by the front door and on the right next to the porch you can see 3 hibicus bushes.
