MIX IT UP DONE FOR TODAY, 1/22/06!

Here's my plan for the rest of the challenge. I'm going to do the slim training workouts for another 14 days, sometimes rotating in BIU and RIU as well. That will be four full weeks of slim training. Then I'll do a recovery type week where I rotate the beginning TJ videos with Cool it Off and maybe Start it Up as well. Then I'll switch to mostly TJ for the rest of the challenge and will carry on with that after the challenge ends. Should be fun!

Me too, glad you are staying Val!!

I was just thinking this morning about what Debbie would come up with next! LOL. I need to get out and get a stand for my DVD's, and my weights! Sheesh. We need an addition to the house!!

Anyway, COOL IT OFF done for today! I thought I was going to hate it in the beginning. Sooo slow! I figured the hour was going to be forever. But it was OK after I realized how bad I needed stretching. Especially my hamstrings!!

Barbde - I LOVE Cool it Off, but I still kind of wish that it didn't have a timer, because at times it seems to drag on for a bit and I'm too achievement oriented to relax when I'm watching the timer. For the first time in my life, though, I'm actually becoming flexible. It makes such a difference.

biogeek: Tone it up! abs, stretch

My plan is to also focus on Slim Series along with Burn for the next couple of weeks. I feel more comfortable with Debbie, not that Charlene is easy or anything! I KNOW I'm getting a killer workout with Debbie & I can keep up & say at the same time! I'm too clumsy to keep up with Charlene's dance moves. This geek has no groove! I'm the Master P of the Turbo Jam world! (If you've watched Dancing with the Stars, you'll understand the Master P reference).

LawyerChick--I'm hoping the new Slim tapes are more challenging. Maybe it's be Slim Series--Master Series or something like. Seems like most of the Beachbody workouts are coming out with a "master series" now.

I like Cool it off. My only problem with it is the music!! Especially the one that sounds like I should be a cowboy on a wagon train or something.

Oh, I never listen to the music that comes with any of the SIS. I mute the music and put on my classic rock station on the radio!

That is good advice, Barb! I normally don't mind the music, although I don't prefer it. Hubby & I just start crackin' up when we were doing our stretches b/c the music was just so....weird! LOL

Hi guys, I'm not part of your challenge, but I started Slim in Six last week. I have a question though, the hardest part for me are the arms-the tops of my shoulders get SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SORE holding my arms up for all those exercises. I try to do as many as I possibly can, and I'm finding that I'm doing more and more. Any recommendations from anyone here?

Also I'm getting serious cramps in the bottoms of my feet at night and that same area gets a real burning feeling in them during my workouts. I'm going tonight to get some vitamins (and calcium) to take and hopefully that'll help. Maybe my form is wrong or something--anyone have any suggestions?

I jumped on the scale this morning and I was UP 4 lbs...and I measured and I was up on a couple measurements there too--HOWEVER I put on a pair of pants that just two weeks ago I had to lay on the bed to button (god forbid I sit in them) and today they not only slid up, buttoned up, but I could bend over and touch my toes in them! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Joy - Feel free to drop in anytime!

Don't pay too much attention to weight or measurements at this point. You're working out hard, which means that you're gaining muscle and that your muscles are going to swell and retain water. I didn't really show a decrease in measurements and pounds from Si6 until my rest week, when my muscles had a chance to adjust to everything that I'd been throwing at them. My advice for your feet is to be sure to stretch, including doing some flexing and pointing exercises. Also, get a good pair of supportive shoes that are designed for cross training (because of the weights, you need more than just regular aerobics shoes). Pay lots of attention to pain in your feet, though, because it can be a sign of bone spurs or plantar fasciitis.

As for your shoulders, make sure that your form is correct. If it is, just keep working in as many reps as you can. You're already getting stronger and doing more reps. You'll be amazed how fast you gain strength on this program.

Stupid question - on heart rate monitors, when they refer to the sizing of the chest band, should that be your under chest measurement, not your actual chest? It looks like women wear the band just below the bra strap, so is that how they measure them?

                          Confused.

                          Thanks,
                          Anna
