Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see whey protein on the list of foods allowed for induction.

      Good point, Erin
Whey protein would be a rung 2 addition.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Sorry, ErinB, but I weigh 211 lb. today and I am a solid, very solid, 13.0 % body fat. I am 71 inches tall. The whey is 1.5 grams carbohydrate but I drink it before bed time to retain nitrogen and prevent protein turn-over. I also got a bit hungry after wards and ate 4 oz. peperoni, 1 oz. pork rinds and 1.5 tablespoons of mayonnaise.

Atkins focused on sedentary, obese patients and I'm sure he didn't do any research on power lifters / bodybuilders dieting down for competition.

i really fancy some fish today as havent had some for awhile so either steamed salmon fillets or fried salmon fillets with veg and maybe going to try making a parsley sauce with cream cheese. i dont have any parsley sauce at home so do you think italian herb mix would be just about the same? x

I'm having roast beef, canned spinach with vinegar and the last serving of mock-a-roni and cheese tonight.

I am back to fried salmon fillets with a sour cream sauce and asparagus and butter on the side. I love it.

No need to call me names, Norman.

I was simply pointing out your whey protein is not induction friendly. New ones on induction read this thread to get ideas for induction-friendly meals and your post could lead them astray. I was reminding them to check the list against your menu before they chow down.

As you know, this site is to support those trying to lose weight the way Dr. Atkins prescribed. It isn't a bodybuilder site. You would probably find plenty of discussion from "power lifters/bodybuilders dieting down for competition" on such a site, though.

You are right. Newbies, follow induction rules! The forums on body building are too focused on the use of steroids, androgens, supplements, growth hormones, etc. I question a lot of "over-the counter" type of supplements promoted as being healthy or safe.

Here's the scoop on Atkins: the diet can cause hormonal manipulations very similar, but not as potent as anabolic steroids and growth hormones with some modifications.

As it is, if it wasn't for this forum, I would not be getting the results I've achieved in the last few months. This forum has a wealth of ideas beyond the scope of any other forum I've visited. The recipes are incredible and the exercise challenges are great fun.

Anyway, for diner I had Cajun spiced 6.5 oz sirloin tip on a skillet using 1 teaspoonful of butter for extra fat and preventing the steak from sticking. Later on, since I'm out right now, I'll have a cup of mixed green salad veggies, one tablespoon of olive oil and a dash of distilled vinegar.

I'm not a competitive bodybuilder or the sort. I'm too modest for the posing thing.
Newbies, follow what Dr. Atkins prescribed in DANDR and you will eventually reach the results you never dreamed of.

Follow the diet to the letter and enter the various rungs when you have too. And don't go off drinking whey protein shakes.

Cheez...ErinB...I'll only post stuff that is nuts and bolts Atkins...I was spanked...

ErinB and Norman...You both are cracking me up!!! rofl

Shrimp stirfry for me tonight with lots of farmers market veggies and healthy oils I always make extra so that I can store some in fridge and freezer for those "I don't feel like cooking moments!"....I sure wish atkins would put out a line of tv dinners that was induction friendly for those "I am at work or on the go moments"...but likely they would make as unhealthy as they make their bars and shakes.

No whey protein for me tonight. ErinB would be proud of me.
I had, for my second dinner, 7 oz. chuck ground, choice, mixed with 2 eggs, added Mrs. dash to the mix and Morton's light salt. First, I sauteed 2 cups spring mix veggies, Dole, in butter and a dash of olive oil, then to that I added the ground beef mixture. I'm a guy, and I'm lucky to poach eggs without burning down my house.
Go figure, I'm a chemist and can't cook worth a dime...
Well, most of the stuff I do is instrumental, so I rarely mix stuff in the lab.

                                Tonight I'm having.....

Italian sausage sauteed with fennel bulb and onions. Additional veggies will be an arugula salad (arugula that I've grown on my patio in containers) with a lemon vinaigrette and a chilled tomato-basil soup (the tomatoes and the basil are from my vegetable garden!)
