    Re: OWLERS "Stepping Back" thread

Before I took a Step Back I was just eating whatever vegetables I had or craved. Used to eat more of the salad veggies but for example...romaine lettuce just doesn't have much to fill a girl up...mostly water.

Boy Mitzi you really stick to the rules. Not that that is a bad thing. You have Discipline with a capital D girl!

I haven't decided on breakfast yet so will report back when I've eaten it. Wanna finish this first bottle of H2O first.

Peppers and jicama RULE for fiber!! Those, along with cucumbers and mushrooms, are the salad veggies that I eat most often.

            Hi, Jen

Were you really busy, or just didn't feel like eating?

                Re: OWLERS "Stepping Back" thread

I make it a point to eat INDUCTION veggies, rather than breaking them down into SALAD or OTHER veggies. Like you said, a lot of the salad veggies are not as nutrient-packed as the other veggies, so I basically eat the veggies I want to eat, and try to choose ones that have lots of nutrients and fiber. If I eat salad, I eat nice greens like arugula, spinach, roquet, endive, etc. I never eat plain old lettuce. I eat a bell pepper everyday. I love string beans, cauliflower, and broccoli for dinner. Sometimes I'll eat celery with dip. I also love pumpkin and spaghetti squash. Those are the veggies I eat on a daily basis, and often I'll throw in other veggies like acorn squash, butternut squash, or lima beans.

I know, i was so depressed the last few days, but now that i'm back to where I left off i feel a big weight off of my shoulders...i guess the sf bread and sf chocolate were not agreeing with me, heck, i realized also that i'm just as happy with all the other stuff we eat, don't know why i went there....and also, sf candy is very bad for you, i should opt for healthy veggies for a snack...let's just say i learned my lesson..

I am so "anal" that I do still try to do that, although I am not always successful. I would say that 90% of the time, I am, though.

How about it? Do y'all make it a point to still have at least 2 cups of Salad Veggies rather than just pick from either list? Not making a judgment call here... just nosey.
I try to get in all my veggies, but don't worry so much about it being salad veggies. I also have found that with increasing the carbs and lowering the fat, that having a salad with salad dressing usually doesn't work as well, so I have salads maybe a couple or three times per week.

One thing I do have to watch is my fruit. I had 1/2 of an apple the other day, but did not have fat to go with it, and I definately felt the effects of it. Within about an hour, I started getting those hunger pains again. At least now I know what causes it.

Here is what I have had so far today
Pre-Workout - My usual Atkins shake (It doesn't effect me the way it does some others and gives me the protein I need prior to my weight workouts). They say you need a minimum of 15 grams of protein 30 minutes before lifting weights to fuel your muscles and another 15 afterwards to help repair the muscle tissue.

Breakfast - 3 large eggs, 3/4 cup Cherrios, 1/2 cup soy milk, 4 oz of greek yogurt, and 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 packet Splenda.

Total so far 655 calories, 29 net carbs, 39 grams of fat, and 44 grams of protein.
