Good luck with that, Elsy... maybe you'll have a different experience than I've had. I tried that when I was working my 10 hour days in the boutique, and I ended up eating the whole box in one day. They cause the WORST cravings for me. I've tried the experiment on at least 5 different occasions, and have ended up with the same result everytime.

I got so discouraged with my ticker weight I just deleted it for awhile! Right now it's one day at a time trying to stay focused and just eat real basic and stick to the plan ......... day 3 back on track and going good so far ........ finally noticing signs of ketosis and loving that!

Today I take the girls to get measured and dresses altered. Just 25 days till the wedding!

BTW, this morning, I am back to my original ticker weight from 10 days ago. I'm back to 182 pounds. You can't imagine the relief.

    Today's Menu:
B: 3 slices of bacon and 2 fried eggs in olive oil
L: 2 cups of spiach mix, 1 tbsp of ranch dressing, 2 oz of shredded cheddar, 3 oz of ham, 5 thin slices of cucumbers
S: 3 thin slices of Jicama
D: 2 turkey burgers wrapped in Romaine lettuce w/mayo and mustard and topped with 1 oz of pepper jack cheese and jalapenos.

    Good Evening, Everyone

Thanks to each and every one of you for your posts... I'm glad that we've remained intact. I just don't have the time lately to go to more than a couple of forums, so it's great to have a place where I can connect with so many of you at one time.

Porcelain... LOL... I haven't eaten Hebrew Nationals since that first 2 weeks at the beginning of this thread - but I had 2 of them tonight! I didn't get home from work until 8:00 tonight (after being on my feet ALL day), and I didn't feel like cooking. I happened to have an unopened pack of those in the fridge, so that was dinner. I thought of you!

Blue, you can definitely blame TOM if he is looming! It sure did a number on me (back when I had them)... you REALLY can't trust the scale at that time. Just hang in there.

Heidi, it's so good to see you back. I'm glad that this group has each other. For the longest time, I did so well, that I thought that this WOE would always be easy for me. I was surprised (and terrified) to find that it's not. I find myself going in cycles... gung ho, and ready to take on the world ... then, just totally BLAH and praying I can hang on . The good news is - so far, I have been able to pull out of the BLAHs and cycle back to gung ho. And I guess that's all I can really ask for, because this WOE is for LIFE and none of us is perfect. It's just unrealistic to think that this is going to be easy-peasy. The key to success for the long run, is to learn how to get back on track as quickly as possible if we happen to veer off course temporarily.

Sherri, portion size is something I really struggle with. I have some sort of hoarding thing going on with me... given a choice out of several pieces of something, I always want the biggest one. I can't do like a lot of people, and cook for the whole week on the weekend... I will eat it all. And I tend to eat most of my food in the latter half of the day, too.

Elsy, you are doing so well that I would hate to see you get tripped up on the bars. Some people may be able to eat them, but I CAN NOT!!!! It pisses me off, because they would be so convenient for those 10 hour days that I have to work sometimes. But I've tested them over and over and over, and they ALWAYS spell trouble for me.

Q, it's great to see you again! Yikes, Jillian Michaels instills fear in me... she's mean and scary! LOL... just kidding (a little). If you can get through that, my hat is off to you! It's great that you'll be having your summer break soon. Enjoy! My son's last day was Monday, May 19th, and I'm sure that he'll be bored soon.

OK, it's almost 11:30 so I've GOT to hit the bed. It's been a LONG day. I'm off tomorrow, though! See you then!

I'm still hanging in there. I've been doing good with eating on plan...that's never the problem. Water intake has been good, so have the supplements.

Exercise has again been sporadic. I've been doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I really like that. It's 20 minutes of pure he||, but I feel great when I'm finished with it.

The end of the school year is here. Only 11 1/2 more student days. We end on June 13th. I'm amazed at how fast the year went. I guess I say that every year, but this year seems to have just flown by! I'm glad summer will be here. Exercise should be much easier to get into a routine again and then once school starts again at the end of August, it will be habit and I'll keep going with it.

    Have a great evening!

    Hey yall.

I posted in my journal earlier that the food and exercise have been great. I did however, eat 2 Atkins Bars this weekend. One on Sunday and the other on Monday or something like that. LOL! Anyway, I saw a 2 pound gain this morning. Grrrrr... I am dissappointed cuz I was doing so good and then here I go again.

I'm not letting that stop me or even bring me to my old habits of cheating when I'm upset. Today, I just went along and ate my healthy food and I'm hitting the eliptical tonight.

I figured it's just one more pebble in my way to my goal. LOL!

    Hello Ladies,

I'm certainly on the same page with Joy and Mitzi when it comes to "boring....but calm" with food. It's what has gotten me this far in my Atkins Journey.
I'm glad you liked that post from Joe, Mitzi. I'm with you. It's not the low carb products that I have a problem with. I kicked those to the curb. It's my portion size, mainly at dinner with fresh wholesome veggies, cheese, and meat. That kicks me out of the "fat burning mode" I suppose it's because I eat very little throughout the day and I'm ravished at dinner time. I've got to retrain myself to spread my carbs out throughout the day so I'm not so hungry at dinner. I don't eat anything after dinner. So I usually go to sleep with the tune of my tummy growling.
I have a intollerance to nuts and some dairy. They make me stall and sometimes gain depending on what types they are.
When I look back on my food diary here at home I can see where I eat the same type of meals every week. It's just the portions I've got to watch out for. So that's what I will be working on this week, to get "Back to Basics", portion size.
    Sherri

Good Morning everyone ......... We had a great Weekend but I was awful food wise ...... no excuses no long why's or UGHS just me making bad choices and even knowing the consequences did it anyways ...... It was one year ago today that I made the decision that enough was enough and I was changing my life ........ I have lost 40 lbs to date but still have 45 to go go make my goal ...... so looking ahead I plan to post a year from now ( hopefully less) that I am standing proud at goal! Looking back over the past year I ahve made quite a few mistakes but learned so much about whats ok and not ok for my body ..... what is good and not good to do and eat to be as successful as I can be ...... I certainly have gone off plan and made bad decisions at times but I am convinced that this is the only way of life for me so getting back on track may not be easy but there is no other choice for me. So here I am humbly standing once again and RERERERERERERERERERE starting back at the basics .......

Lord help me to be strong and quit this silly yoyo thing I tend to do ......

Thanks everyone for your posts and for making this group that we can be honest and share where we are at .......

    Heidi

YES! I couldn't have said it better... boring, but calm. I literally ate almost the same exact thing, every single day that I was in OWL. And while that may have driven any "normal" person crazy, it is EXACTLY the way that I need to eat. It puts food "in it's place" for me... it is just fuel for my body to function, and not something I need to make the focus of my life. I need to make myself busy with other things.

I'm glad that you brought up the fact that not everyone needs to fear dairy, nuts, and grains. That is a great point... I don't want anyone to assume that this will happen to them. I know of many who are able to incorporate these foods into their eating. Joy and I really do have very similar food intolerances and behaviors. Sorry that you have them, Joy, but is sure is nice having someone who understands the problems.

You're right... one day at a time.

Thanks, Joy! I'm going hunting for a butcher. Seriously, how cool is it that your neighbors are farm-fresh? Nice!

Sherri, thanks for the reminder about carb-creep. I don't do it with low-carb products, but I have definitely been over-eating certain legal foods again... some of them have carbs, and some of them don't.

In fact, I don't consider today a "clean" day for me with respect to getting back to basics... I ate a bag of pork skins (not the good kind like Joy described), and I got into the cottage cheese. Cottage cheese might be fine for some, but it really stirs cravings in me. I've felt out of control today. I'm glad that I have a long day at work tomorrow... it's just what I need to get a handle on myself. I'm at the mercy of the food I bring to work... so, if I choose well on what I bring, I will have to eat it or starve. There's no overeating when I'm bound to one place all day.

I'm starting to get sick of all foods again (like I was when I started this thread). I need to get back into the "eat to live" mode, rather than the "live to eat" one. It's when I start to get creative with my meals, that I start getting careless. Time to get back to eating to survive, rather than eating because I feel like it. BASICS!

My neighbors are very "live off the land"-ish. They raise pigs, and literally rendered the fresh fat off the fresh pig. They made chicharrones when rendering the fat/skin. When their cow got out and we helped them get it back home, and she gave me a bunch of fresh farm products. I'd been asking for some pork fat and she brought me some (actually it was in one of those gallon plastic ice-cream containers with the handle). Seriously, I'll have fresh pork fat forever I think. I store it in the fridge, so it's solid. It's fabulous for cooking vegetables, eggs, anything. At room temperature it's liquid just like vegetable oil.

You could do it yourself by getting some fresh pork fat (I'd ask your local butcher) and just put it in a frying pan and cooking it down until what you have is a pan full of the oil. Then pour the oil off (enjoy the fresh chicharrones that are left) and store the oil in the fridge.
