47.9 pounds gone??? Holy cow! Look at those stats! Nice job everyone!

As I whined already to Julie, and in my journal, I'm going into Betty Ford's version of Scale Addicts Anonymous until August 1st...but keeping track of the inches until then; because, afterall, inches are cool to lose too.

And for the snarly attitude I have developed against the scale, I will be pouring all the hate and frustration of the numbers into sweat, toil, and some pain into my walks that may turn into fast 4.5mph trots on a daily basis....just so those of you who are starting their walking/running program won't be alone (LOL)

          Party on!!

Julie, I am impressed with your detailed math and tracking.

I seem to have an aversion to measuring myself lately. And I'm not doing it this weekend b/c good ole TOM is visiting. So, I'll hopefully record some losses of BOTH kinds next week.

See kids? Listen to your teachers when they say you *will* use math in the real world. Fun Fact: In school, I would race against kids who were using calculators and solve the problem in half the time. I beat Geoff by about 10 seconds today. I was using my grey matter, he was on a calculator. Math is fun. I have all sorts of wierd shortcuts and tricks that nobody ever understands...they make sense in my head.

OK, so I did it! I went and bought running shoes tonight! (Ouch, those things are not cheap!!!) Anyway, since I invested a small fortune in my shoes, I decided I better get out there and use them! I walked two miles and ran (well, jogged) two miles tonight. I am so excited that I was able to accomplish that. I haven't really run in about 14 years! Every couple of years I think I am going to run, buy shoes, jog a mile or two and give up. I am hoping being part of this challenge and being on this board will keep me on track this time! Yay! Have I mentioned I'm excited?

Thinking I will try to run in the morning again, before we head down to the Farmer's Market (yum --- green beans and eggplant and grass fed beef, oh my!)

Congratulations, again, to everyone for their inches and pounds lost. I am so impressed with how motivated everyone is here!

This thread is so fun, but it overwhelms me sometimes. Everyone forgive me if I miss things here or there....

Liz--my skinny husband is like that too. He doesn't eat bread, rice, very little pasta, sometimes potatoes but not often and he doesn't get excited about desserts tooooo much (he can take them or leave them). The only thing that keeps him from truly being low-carb is his coca-cola addiction.

I'm in ketosis. That's about all I can say. No pounds lost, no inches lost. Still 3 lbs above goal. Ack. I'm not doing very well for this challenge.

apple, i want to join you in a personal weigh challenge. i get way too obsessed with the scale. i mean, i weighed for this challenge on wednesday and i have weighed every day since! that's too much! i can't stand it. i've given up obsessing about food to obsessing about the number on a scale! it seriously hinders me...i believe it hinders my progress, and keeps me in self-sabotage mode...i do. i had an aha! moment today and i must give up the scale...there is a level of comfort for me in familiarity, and that includes the number on the scale, the way my body feels in space, the reactions and responses i receive from people...all of this is comfortable for me. i am challenging myself to step OUT of that comfort zone and reach a higher potential...and to do that, i have to do things differently...i must trust my self and let go of the scale. i am not going to weigh again until the end of this challenge. period. thanks. i feel much better now.

Ann---cool new shoes and yay for your run! They'll totally be worth every penny. What brand did you get? I bought Nike Air running shoes and they're my new best friends. Kind of gives ya a feeling of having new mental spark plugs, doesn't it?

Coolbeans, Jenn! Aren't those aha moments great? Wow! You're going to the end of this challenge without weighing??? Nice!!!! I'll be rooting for ya! You've got a great mindset and determination.

Keeping track of the inches is the way I'll be keeping track of my progress, as well as seeing how my clothes fit and how I feel mentally. It's all good.

I hear ya on the self-sabotage mode...I'm there trying to avoid it, and I'm also PMSing so things are a little more heightened than normal. I usually wait until after these times to make big decisions, but I figured what the heck and threw caution into the wind to not weigh until August. It'll be a grand time over the next 2 1/2 weeks.

Same here Joy. Hopefully we'll both lose those 3 pesky pounds by Labor Day, right?

Silly & Valid- sorry the losses are so slow for you gals, but you ARE REALLY CLOSE to goal and you're both handling the slow down quite well. I can only hope to remain as strong as you two when I am there. I've yet to have a taste of that and look up to you both for motivation when my time comes.

I myself, decided not to record my losses this week (toms due) but the curiousity is there. No weight change but inches gone! yay!

Thanks Disco. If nothing else, eating this way sure allows you to develop patience! Those extra pounds come on in a flash and go away slowly to punish us for what we may have eaten!
