Liz--OK, here are two lashes with a wet noodle. Naughty Girl. But I'm glad you're back on plan.

Next time you go out to eat and you get one of those 832-side item breakfasts (because that's generally all anybody offers these days!!), ask if they can substitute meat for the potatoes and toast. Or, as you climb the rungs of OWL, ask if they can bring you fruit instead. Most restaurants are more than happy to work with you. And even if they might not, it never hurts to ask! That's one thing I've learned, always ASK for your food the way you want it. Granted, sometimes I feel like Sally (from When Harry Met Sally) when I order food in a restaurant, but you never know unless you ask.

BLAZING--WWOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO congrats on your 1 pound loss!! I'm so glad you stuck with it and didn't let those silly ketostix get you down.

        Congrats are in order

        1.)To lindseyd
        2.)To Blazin

when I'm comfronted by high carb foods I always think to myself, thin will by much yummier then this moment of weakness. I was down earlier this week eattign crackers and felt sick! Yesterday was my first day of clean eatting again, so I have some catching up to do. I had a long conversation with a friend of mine and he told me the secret of how he lost 23 pounds in the last month, he of course was doing a modified low carb lifestyle mixed the running, he would run one song the walk the next then run then walk he did this for 5 songs= on average 20 minutes. at the 2 weeks point he would run 2 walk one. He's been doing it for a while and runs 8 miles aday and went from a size 38 to a size 32. I just a few short months. One thing I've read is 80% of weight loss is the diet, I think we're all here cause we're learning the diet yet I think some of us (this includes me) want it to be just the diet. I'm going to buy running shoes "good ones" this morning to not just lose pounds but to increase my overall health. If anyone else is interested in becoming virtual running/jogging buddies please let me know maybe we can start a :how to get off your A** thread"

        You guys rock tremoundously!!

Hey there, Self... Yeah, that darn exercising is pretty darn effective. So much so that we can't blow it off.

Check out the Milleage Challenges that we have each month. It's biking, walking, running, whatever to rack up the miles and meet your own goal you set...Here's July's: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46061

I won't be around much for the next few days, I'll be busy "camping" at my brother's on the lake. Bringing my own bike, will kayak and fish, going to attempt some walking, and have the staircase down to the lake to give me some solid workouts. I'll be good with my foods! (No s'mores over the campfire!) I'll track it all and report back next week.

              Take care, everyone!

self--great job on the running. I think the many of the people here began with walking/running intervals. I did mine based on distance (I started in the winter on a treadmill, and it was easy to keep track of mileage), though some do theirs based on time. It definitely works! Just keep challenging yourself. For a beginning runner, 1 song might be really long though. Do you have a watch to time intervals? Or maybe you could walk during the verses and run during the chorus? That would work.

Bear in mind that it took me (and a few others I've spoken with) about 2 months for it to feel easier. I kept improving during this time, but after those 2 months of stickign with it religiously, my improvement was exponential. I'm hoping to do a 10-miler this summer. I've made it up to 8 so far.

If you would have told me cottage cheese was going to be one of my favorite foods, I would have peed my pants laughing.

Now, my advice is either to add 5g carbs and stay with veggies for another week, or move up to dairy but stay at your current carb level.
Thanks Jules, I've decided to move up to dairy and keep the carbs at the same. I am still at 25g. So when I move up to dairy I keep it at 25 and try something I've yet to have like yogurt? Yogurt is yucky to me unless it's flavored, any suggestions? Cottage cheese is some I tolerate. What can I do to them to make them more palatable?

Jen--you can either buy the carb control yogurt (I think it's made by Dannon) which comes in flavors like strawberry, vanilla, and raspberry creme. It's 4g carbs per serving, and it's sweetened with splenda. That stuff is OK, but I think it's too sweet for my taste. I usually buy a gigundous tub of wholemilk yogurt, and I can sweeten it with my own sweeteners, or add cinnamon, etc.

Greek yogurt is AWESOME--try to find that if you can! It's like a cross between ricotta and sour cream. It's very thick and rich.

Queso fresco and goat cheese are both fresh cheeses that are SOOOOOOOOO good, just by themselves. Or you can add them to your meals by melting them over your meat, or veggies, etc.

Hmm...on the dairy rung, it's a bit tough to add a lot to your dairy. I think your best best are sweetener, and cinnamon or cocoa.

poo--WOW! CONGRATULATIONS on 6 pounds, that's just fabulous!!!

cutecourters--another WOW! You're over 1/3 of the way to your LDC goal!!!

Liz--I'm so envious of your bike ride--I don't even have a bike! But it might be a birthday present...anyway, that sounds like an awesome workout!

Wow! Great job to everyone on their losses! Everyone is doing soooo great!

Self -- I have been thinking a lot about running lately. I haven't started yet, but really think I need to. I was a runner in high school -- captain of the cross country and track teams, actually, if you can believe that. I used to love to run, but somehow got away from it as I got older. Now would be a good time to restart. I need to get a pair of good shoes before I can begin, but may be able to get that accomplished this weekend. Maybe we could be virtual running buddies... Depending on what time I get out of work I may be able to head over to the mall and buy some shoes tonight or tomorrow night...

Alright, Sillygirl said I needed to get into this to get me going again... Challenges always seem to keep me conscious of what I'm doing and on my toes.. so here I am!
Count me in.. I'll take pics and measurements tomorrow... hope it's okay I'm starting a little late.
