Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

Hello everyone sorry I haven't been around the last couple od days. My Grandma has been in the hospital and I have been with her the entire time. So I haven't been exercising, however, I must say that I am proud of my self because I didn't cheat one time, even today when I was famished because the cafeteria wasn't open. I thought it would be better to not eat at all than to have that bag of baked lays!! Hopefully I can get back on track with the exercising tomorrow because Gram is getting out of the hospital!

Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

Hey all, gotta report in for yesterday and today. Made a full gallon of water each of the last two days. I did a 45 minute spin class yesterday and I still owe one exercise session. I am doing a 5k tomorrow morining with the youngsters, it will take about 30 minutes and I'll call it a good week. I'll probably hit the weights every day from here on out. I just bought a home gym today and it's really cool. My son and I are now lifting buddies. No weight loss or gain to report so far.

Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

Yesterday I walked four miles and did an hour of pilates. I also drank 72 oz water. Still struggling not to cheat. This month has been tough because there isnt much available in the supermarket---only one kind of cheese, no tomatoes, no green beans worth buying, no pork (poisoning scare here like the melamine in milk thing) or seafood unless I travel 40 mins to the store, no ham, no black olives....you get the idea. I need a trip out of China to restock soon!!! Anyway, I am sticking to the exercise and water. Today I walk half an hour but it started POURING. Its monsoon SEASON.

Yesterday: 3 liters of water + 40 minute workout (rebounding + toning w/ 20 push ups and 75 crunches)

I did good with the water and did a few more crunches than I set out to, but I was so pooped after that workout. I fell in the bed and didn't move for hours.

Today: Water 2.5 liters + 30 minute workout (rebounding + toning w/ 20 push ups and 50 crunches)

Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

Julie, I ran a 5k this morning, so that's my 4th and final exercise session I owe this week. I'll probably lift weights with my son tomorrow, but I am sore from running today. I haven't run a step since December I think. My legs felt heavy about a mile and a half in. I gotta run more. I did report one pound lost today, probably have another one tomorrow because it was really close to two. I also got my gallon in today.

Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

                Hi everyone,

Chinagirl: I was living in Eastern Europe for 6 years and just 'got back' - where are you at in China? Anyhow, I can very much relate to your situation. We used to have to drive an hour to Vienna to be able to get any groceries at all. 'Foreign foods' like (gasp) lettuce were impossible to get, carrots were rotton and apples were less than what we feed our horses here. In short, I was successful with Atkins there (my first time around; this is my second time) and got down to 170 and got pregant so I abandoned the way of life. But back to the point: I got very good at finding local foods that were 'Atkins friendly.' I think the greatest challenge for me there was not being able to read labels. Period. It just couldn't happen. But I made everything from scratch - soup from bones and veggies etc. Cabbage was also a big item over there.

What kind of local foods can you find over there? There must be some neat veggies around? My sister is in Taipei (she has a Costco so she can't complain) and they eat very well but have definitely had to adapt and still they bring things in. I used to do the same but stuff is so heavy and luggage restrictions are so tight. Friends and family became 'carrier's of food items from the West.

Keep going. You're in a good place to make some great progress - yes, there are dowsides, but there likely aren't as many temptations on every corner either. I also lived in Japan and their 'corner' stores were filled with tentacles in bags, tentacles in wrappers and tentacles on crackers. Sometimes there were tiny fish on the crackers too. Yeah. (I love sushi though). Not too many 'tasty treats' in the corner store. Nope.

OK. I've forgotten now which thread I'm in. Yes, the challenge.

                Water: 3 litres today
Exercise: 1 hour weights (legs); no cardio afterwards as planned
Food: on plan. Stomach seems a bit 'delicate.' ate a lot of bacon though. Need to plan more. I'm going to try to find some sugar free caramel syrup to do the cheesecake muffins.

Question: Which part of the grocery store has pork rinds? Are they in a bag? box? Not too sure what these things are. Can anyone give me some insight here? Thx.

We are all doing well. I weight in on Sunday and will post my weight then.

                Ciao. S-

Re: STAC Exercise and Weight Loss Challenge

Today: I drank my water (2.5 liters), but didn't workout. Got home this evening after having kind of a rough day and just decided to take a rest. I have 2 more days of exercise to do before Monday.

I'm feeling my clothes are a little loser than before and I've been peeing a lot so that's great. My official weigh day is Monday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the scale starts moving again.

Goals for tomorrow: Water 2 liters + 30 minute workout (rebounding + toning w/ 20 push ups and 50 crunches)

This challenge has helped me be more on plan and more focused on keeping up with my water and workouts. I'm very grateful for it!

Peaceful, I would love to be in Taiwan or Hong Kong---so many more choices. There are some great veggies here --eggplant, mushrooms peppers and bok choy, choi sum, (they are all simialr). Thankfully we are now starting to enter a season where there is finally more variety. It is the lack of meat and cheese choices that kills the variety for me. But you are right - no temptations such as baked goods, yogurts, s/f chocolates or lovely breads. I am in Guangzhou in the far south. Spent 8 years in Moscow--I can identify with your Eastern Europe experience. We used to fly through Frankfurt so we could hit the fresh produce market next to the airport! LOL I remember eating Greek salad for breakfast on holiday because we hadnt had fresh tomatoes and cucumbers in so long.

Today was a really good day--perfect eating for Induction (I got to an import store today so I had things I was happy to eat), lifted weights and had 72 ounces water. HOORAY!

I have not been able to log in. The site was hijacked or something. At any rate I will catch up over the weekend.

Today I will drink 3 liters of water. I have managed 40 oz so far. Yesterday I managed almost 3 liters.

For exercise today is different. I will play wii tonight for 30 minutes but we are mving bed rooms so I will get plenty of lifting in as well.

I weighed in yesterday and have stayed the same. No loss but had TOM all week. Hopefully I will see a nice loss next week.

                        Have a great day
