Bill...the second week is almost always way slower than the first. So don't be disappointed if it is only a couple of pounds or maybe even none at all as you lost so quickly the first week. Average it out.

    Sorry about the cheese misinformation!

Val....re: fitday..did you download the free version?? It shouldn't be asking you that everytime you enter a food. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it but may be a little hard in the beginning...don't give up on it!

Yeah, forgot to add, that I took the baby in yesterday and he has the cold really bad, he is throwing up because of all the drainage in his throat, but we just have to let it run its course. Same for me, ugh.

Elsie, stand up and be proud that you found out Mozz is ok, thank you thank you thank you!!! No hanging heads in shame over that one!!

Bill, your book called Elsie comes home, LMAO!!

The cheese pizza crust is 1 carb per slice, the two of us ate the whole thing in 2 days, not bad at all. I am being careful!!

Yeah, whatever on the Nyquil, I had to have it, I am not worried.

And I have a question about hot dogs.. I have looked at the packages in the store and it seems I can't find any made without sugar, anyone know of any? In fact, the only polishes I have allowed us are from Troy's hunting buddies' freezers, homemade, we know they are just venison and pork, spices, no sugars. So I am very curious about that. I even bought a ham yesterday, got home and read the teeeeny print, it has hi fructose corn syrup as the 2nd ingredient, so the kids got hot ham n cheese for dinner, and more ham in days to come! lol

Hey, I just want to share my recipe for the delicious soup I made last night too, thanks for the well wishes, I think today is going to be the peak, the worst of the cold, hope to feel better after today. But I made it thru the groc store again without buying anything bad. Maybe it is the cold, but the temptations just don't bother me. Bf looks thinner in the face today, I am so excited for him. He went off to work grumbling about his decaf, but knows its for the best, lol! He wont weigh in till the end of the 14 days, he is on day 7, I am on day 8. Ok, for that recipe:

Put one 4 cup box of Swanson beef broth in a pot with 2 pounds cubed beef roast. Start the burner and add in as you go,
          2 celery stalks,
1 cup of fresh green beans, cut into 1 inch sections
          a small onion
          4 cups chopped cabbage
a small can of roasted tomatoes
          1 clove garlic
          pepper
Bring everythig to a boil, reduce to low and cover, after 50 mins from when you started the meat, add in
2 cups fresh sliced mushrooms, cook 10 more mins.

8 servings = 6 carbs each, and we added a sprinkling of mozz cheese over the top, it was delicious!!!

Good for those of you feeling under the weather! Enjoy!!

I gotta get back on the study train today and get semi-caught up in thes class! TTYL Have a good one evreyone!

hello all, I am still alive..Day 2 of no caffeine was rough..I had a terrible headache and so I stayed in the dark most of the day away from TV, computer and light..

today I still have a slight headache but I can manage it.

Induction is up on the 22nd of June for me but I plan to extend for an additional 2 weeks. I have lost 5 pds so far..yeah!!!!

now if I can get off my but and exercise maybe i can lose a little more!

              Welcome Shesays!

Dewdropinn...cold or induction flu?? This is sickie week here...LOL! Or Audit fever?? Good luck with that!

Val...Poor baby! Sounds like you did fine with the pizza. I can't say it would have lasted 2 days here between 2 people. Soup sounds good. Added it to my collection. Can't help you on the hotdogs...don't usually eat them. I checked the ones I had in the freezer for the kids and it says All beef but has corn syrup in them. As for the ham also another I don't eat too much. Check the different kinds. I buy the toupie for the kids and then cut it into pieces and put them in the freezer so I can pull out just enough for them. Maybe picnic ham?? Or at a butchers? Or check out the sandwich meats...for yourself. Tell BF to keep up the great work!!

Anyone here have a brand name of hotdogs or ham that doesn't have sugars in it?? If not you may have to ask on the main forum. Report here if you find anything else please.

Delia...You can do this. Do you have a plan to get you through to day 12??

              • Re: Looking for some buddies.

Today I would like to talk about climbing the rungs. I am an avid rung climber advocate. I have read a lot of threads of people staying on induction and either falling off the plan or stalling. I, myself, climbed the rungs and had great success. It adds variety to your plan and also starts teaching you what your body can handle and what it can't. It creates a greater chance of success at keeping the weight off.

Who here is planning on moving on to rung one ? I really stress doing this one as it is only adding 5 more carb grams of veggies. It is really a non threatening rung. Some examples are: (page 174 my book)
                3/4 cup cooked spinach
                1/2 cup red peppers
                1 medium tomato
                1/2 cup cooked broccoli
                8 medium asparagus
                1 cup cauliflower
                1/3 cup onion
                1/2 California avocado
                2/3 summer squash

I think there is a list in the OWL section that lists more.

Anyway...I know that I will be doing that next week and would love to have some buddies on that list as well. Who will be joining me? If you aren't what is your plan??

You know? Elsie? Maybe I will start that rung too, me AND bf. It really can't be that threatening! I think I will move on on Thursday, it will give me a 15 day induction, then bf and I will be on the same day, he started a day after me. Does your schedule line up?

val - try koegel vienna hot dogs. I really want to say there are no added sugar. I am not sure if those hot dogs are just a michigan thing or not.

Elsie- No, not induction flu (thankfully ) Stomach is not feeling so hot, and my throat is starting to get a little mucusy. Hopefully I will feel better by the weekend. I long for the weekend!

                        • Re: Looking for some buddies.

Hey Val...it will be great to have you aboard there. I find there is not as much interaction there as for the inductees. So we can start a thread and discuss the rungs as we go. I start rung one on Monday. So you guys start that Thurs..the 26th? That will work great. We can start our discussion then so you know stuff ahead of time. If it is tomorrow you start then we can still do it and I will know stuff ahead of time...LOL!

Any other takers?? And of course I am going to be checking up on you guys here!

Dewdropinn...Thanks for the heads up on the hotdogs!! Hope you are feeling better soon. Some hot chicken broth with a beaten egg slowly stirred in for some protein...you will be feeling better in no time!!

You know...induction flu is not all bad. LOL! I know, I know...you are all thinking...WHAT!!!?? has she lost her mnd???!!! No, I haven't. This is one way to look at it. Induction flu is your bodies way of telling you you are detoxing. That foods you were addicted to are causing havoc with you just by not eating them. These foods had that kind of power over your body! Be thankful for induction flu...remember it...especially when you want to cheat. Why would you want to put a drug in your body?? Fight it...come out the other side wiser, in control and stronger than ever. You can do it. You are worth it!!! (hope I don't trip getting down off my soap box...LOL!)

Bill...actually you could have eaten mozz cheese from 7:53 -11:04. Really only 3 hours...but who is counting...LOL! Oh..right...you were. Ya want some cheese with that whine?? LOLOL!!!

Okay...my opinion on the caffenine (what do you mean no one asked me?? LOL) Dr Atkins recommends cutting it out completely. If you want to do a clean induction you should. If you really feel you can't live without...then you really really should. Because it is part of the detoxing. You would find out 1 of 2 things. 1....you are addicted to it so should be cutting it out as that is one of the things induction is about or 2...you didn't really need it as bad as you thought.

Now...that being said...here is another thought. It has been known to stall some people. Not everyone. I am not going to choose what way is right for any of you. I can have it and it does not affect me. How do I know this? Last time I did a clean induction and then added it in later....hmmm....I think dairy rung. I am lucky as the diet pop does not affect me either. But I still have to watch because for me what drinking either of those things do is that I tend to drink less water and eat less veggies. So I do not drink those other things often. Just be aware that if you are having trouble losing you may want to try to cut out the caffenine and the artificial sweetners. They can stall you and have also been known to cause cravings.

So...to each their own...just be aware of how your body reacts to stuff. (Hey....who put this soap box here??)

Bill...good attitude...I think the two pound gain is fine considering the meds and what you went through...it is just your body readjusting itself. You will do fine with your final weigh in!

My dad drinks coffee like that...pots, and pots, and pots...and it never keeps him awake! He can drink it right before bed (and always does) and nothing! If I so much as look at coffee after 3:00 or so I'm up all night long. Needless to say I generally only drink it in the morning, if at all.

So I'm kinda bummed out today. I think it's the weather here. It started out as a rather hot day, then the temperature dropped suddenly and we got a bit of rain. Now it's cloudy but you can feel a chill in the air. Strange. I think we're in for a pretty big storm. Either way, it's left me feeling rather blah.
