  • Re: OWLERS "Stepping Back" thread

Thanks SIS for workin on cuttin the fat for us. I will try the muffin that way with no yolk and olive oil and water. I never put butter in mine anyways but sometimes they did turn out a bit dry. Anyway, I'll give it a go. Thanks!

Emma...I literally laughed out loud when I read that "4lb poop". Lordy, I'm with the rest of the girls that if I didn't go in that amount of time I would be . I'm a daily girl..at least once a day, most days more than once...I know TMI too!

Anyway, hope you find yourself lighter by tomorrow!

I, my friends, am back down to my ticker weight of 172lbs! YAY!!! Not sure what caused the gain, but whatever, like I said, wasn't sweatin it cuz I knew I was doing everything right.

I'm going to add nuts back in again. I miss my unsweetened coconut. See what that does for me.

So far this morning its been scarce as I'm not hungry or maybe its just that I don't know what I feel like.

I've had an hb egg and 16oz of water and a cup of decaf black. Gonna have a bigger lunch and also gonna have MUP sometime today and see if that caused my tummy problem the other day...LORD I hope not...I LOVE MUP!

You guys are great by the way, I think this thread could and hopefully will go on for a long time!

    Luv ya'll!

Sweet! Thats great! Only add in one thing at a time on the nut rung so you can gauge it right. I've never incorporated coconut, I htink I'm gonna try it. What do you do with it? I could eat it whole right out of the shell, we did that as kids....

And you can, eat it fresh right out of the shell. OR...I bought a big bag of finely shredded unsweetened from the healthfood store. Its cheap. I put it in muffin in a minute or you can bread shrimp for coconut shrimp or bread chicken or I put some in Doms cheesecake when I make it, plus I made chocolate macaroons once. I could even put it in MUP...which I haven't tried but am gonna do that tonight as a snack. Like I said, you can put it in whatever! You could make a great smoothie too and add it in. I LOVE IT!

While I am by no means a 100% purist when it comes to Atkins, you may have noticed that I can be a bit rigid with it. I try to do everything as fresh and whole as possible. So, having a shake is really going against my nature, in a way. On the other hand, at least I can honestly say that I don't believe that having it will lead me into eating other frankenfoods. I have no desire for them. The shakes really do satisfy me without causing cravings. And even if I decide not to have one everyday, I would like to be able to fall back on one in an emergency. So, while I do feel a pang of guilt for even considering them, I am going to go ahead and have one 3 times this week. We will see if I can pull off another 2 pound loss. If not, I will put them away until Maintenance.
Mitzi, I have the Atkins Chocolate Royale shakes pretty regularly. I know they do stall some people and if that did that to me, I wouldn't consider it at all. What I do like about them is that it gives me a high amount of protein (15g) before I work out and it digests and gets absorbed into my system pretty quickly, which is important for me on the mornings when I don't have time beforehand to eat a regular meal. It seems pretty balanced with 9 grams of fat, 6 carbs, but 4 fiber. I can't do any of their bars!!! Effects me big time! However, the shakes do not!

I say, just watch it. If it has negative effects on you, then ditch it, but if it doesn't stall you or give you stomach problems, I say go for it!

Emma, I can't imagine going that long either. I have problems in that area as well. I know most people just think I'm a REGULAR guy! LOL The things that help for me are drinking coffee, for some reason that usually does the trick. I also take flax seed oil (in capsule form), and check to make sure that I am getting at least 25g of fiber per day.

Sweet Strudel, I will have to try the coconut. Sounds great. Congratulations on your success! That is great news. Now if I can lose that weight I put on last week and then some, I will be a happy camper this week!

That being said, here is what I had this morning.

            Pre-Workout
Atkins Chocolate Royale Shake (Big Surprise! LOL)

            Breakfast
            3 eggs
            3/4 cups of Cherrios
            1/4 cup soy milk
            1/8 of a large cantaloupe
            1/4 cup of pistachio kernals

Yes indeed, Don... I have been getting great comfort from the fact that you have been able to add them into your WOE. I just know that it is not good for me to be waiting until 11:00 to eat. And I just don't want anything... the shakes are the only thing that appeal to me in the least. It is balanced for what I need, and I love the vitamins in it, as well. About the bars - same with me! I cannot tolerate them at all. I'm not sad about not being able to have the bars... I will be a little sad if I can't have the shakes soon, but at least I know that since they don't cause cravings I will be able to have them in Maintenance if I find that they do stall me now. I'll keep you posted!

Sorry, Liz, if I confused you! I think I was trying to combine a few thoughts into one.

                I'll try again... you wrote:

"Okay, so I was exhausted today...like muscles ached like they were severly fatigued... even during walk... just felt drained... so I decided maybe I need to go back to the nut rung again . I just felt like I needed vitamens or antioxidants, or something... to give me a better boost..."

                and also...

"anyways, going to do nut rung for the rest of the week... I need my energy back...having another crazy busy week... football teams coming for dinner on Thursday and I have a lot to do to get ready for them... and after I ate the blue berry's I started feeling a little better... "

First, I wondered if you attributed feeling fatigued to going past the nut rung.

Then, I was thinking that if you were looking for anitoxidants and blueberries made you feel better, why you were going to go back to the nut rung?

Nuts are below berries, so don't be confused. You know how my mind works, though... I've got to know the whys of changing a routine.

                Talk to you later!

Mitzi, I had one of the bars a couple of months ago and an hour afterwards I started having hunger pains, so I have sworn them off for good. My wife has problems eating in the mornings and even though she isn't following Atkins, she likes the shakes. I feel like that at least they are much better for her and better balanced than say Slim Fast or one of the other breakfast drinks. Good luck with it.

                  OK, here is lunch.
                  4 oz peppered turkey
2 slices of low carb bread
1 oz of pepper jack cheese
                  1.5 tbsp mayo
                  1 outer leaf romaine lettuce
                  1 roma tomato
                  1/2 large apple

593 calories, 42g protein, 27g fat, and 31g net carbs

Snack this morning was 12 sugar snap peas.

Went out for lunch had a chicken ceasar salad with water.

I'm still hungry though, romaine lettuce isn't all that filling or satisfying.

I'll post if I figure out what to eat next.

Turned into one of those hungry days once I got started...sheesh.

I thought of you...and Mitzi when eating the MUP. I added 1 oz of coconut to it, changed the texture, was very good. Was going to add a tbsp of almond meal but am trying not to incorporate too much stuff back in at once.

I'm sure tomorrow I won't have lost anything in the past week for the Halloween Challenge..oh well.

Sorry people for putting this thread off track for a few!
