Paula, are you losing inches by any chance? The scale can be a real demon - how are the clothes fitting? When I first started riding my bike this spring, my pants actually got tighter. All I could figure was that I was adding muscle and not necessarily losing too much fat yet.

There is the chapter in the book for those who struggle. We could take those one at a time and see what can be ruled out.

I'll be seeing an endocrinologist next Monday. Since ol' Tommie-Boy isn't an issue with me, I'll ask if those missing hormones can affect weight loss. (I have a LOT of questions for that guy!)

Ewww, Michelle! That totally bites with the stitches! Maddening as heck, isn't it?! Already to rock-n-roll and some stinkin' health issue stops you in your tracks. Thankfully, you have your bike!

              -----------

Well, I got home a little while ago after close to seven hours on the river and lake kayaking. My very white legs that I can now get out of the cockpit and sit on the top of the kayak are totally fried! If you all could see my very bizaar tan, you'd laaauugh and laugh!

The first half of the ride down was so frustrating because the water is low and we'd keep bottoming out, which means getting out and trudging through the water and sand to deeper parts of the river. My arms and legs got an incredible workout today. I'm shot (so is my poor SIL!) and just about ready to crash for the next 36 hours! (I'm trying to figure out if I should put it down for my mileage challenge! LOL!) I did bring some meat, cheese and veggies as well as my water but hardly ate any of it.

Been guzzling water since I got home.

I'm off to bed. Nightie-night, all!

Hey there! Start an account on www.photobucket.com and upload your pictures there. When you hit upload, it'll take a short amount of time to do so. Then that window automatically refreshes and your picture should be there.

After they show up on photobucket, just below each picture are links for that picture in different formats. The one you want for here is the IMG CODE.

Normally, just clicking on it will copy it for you. Then you can just paste it into your posting message window. If clicking on it doesn't automatically copy it, just highlight the whole address and copy it there, and paste it here.

Copy and paste with Photobucket is the easiest way to go because you don't have to deal with tags and all.

                        Hey there, Ms Terry!

When I checked yesterday, I had actually gained inches. Needless to say, that didn't help my mood much. My weight is down to 212 as of this morning, so although I'm not down to my low-end-of-Induction-weight, I am back to where I was when I started this challenge. I'll take it!

I really think the problem is hormonal. I also no longer have to deal with TOM but I think that by trying to find a balance between ERT and progesterone, I've messed myself up altogether. I'm really curious as to what your endocrinologist has to say!

There is a lady who has dealt with these issues I am facing who plans on popping into my journal this evening to give me some advice. If you'd like to see what she has to say, please feel free to join us. I'm so looking forward to it!

Sorry for the threadjack. On with LDC discussions!

I reread the first 3 chapters of DANDR this morning, and was taken aback, as I always am, at the pride and passion that resonates through Dr. Atkins' words. This is a man who firmly believes and lives what he is saying. I've never felt the sales pitch vibe I've gotten in the numerous other "diet" books I've read, when reading DANDR. Nor does he come across as cold and clinical, which usually seems to be the case with advice from doctors. I have the impression that he took great pains to "dumb" things down so that the average layperson has no trouble reading and comprehending what he wrote. Thank goodness!

I especially love the verbal picture he painted of the table laden with Atkins legal food. Anyone who reads it will have a hard time using deprivation and Atkins in the same sentence.

So true! There's the dirty little secret about doctors - they get very little training on nutrition so they really don't know what works and what doesn't. When you get some doe-doe of a doctor who tells you "You need to lose weight", sure would be helpful if he had a clue as to how we could do so! Instead, they shove you off to a diectician who will not budge from the ol' pyramid chart. I've really grown to respect Dr. Atkins because he did take the time to figure out just how the food we eat impacts our health, physically and psychologically.
